Sun: CARLOS TEVEZ is still waiting for Alex Ferguson to ask him to sign a permanent Old Trafford deal.
The Argentine striker is on loan at Manchester United until the end of next season and a fee has already been agreed to make him a full-time player.
Boss Ferguson has admitted his desire to secure the services of Tevez long-term.
Yet Tevez, 23, revealed: “The manager has not spoken to me personally in relation to signing a permanent deal. But, obviously, I would love to sign here. This is a great club and it would be fantastic for me to stay at United on a permanent contract.”
Since arriving in the summer in a controversial move from West Ham, Tevez has scored six goals in 16 starts and built an impressive partnership with Wayne Rooney.
His next goal is to help the club win more silverware.
He added: “One of my dreams is to win trophies with Manchester United. I want to pay back the fans’ faith in me.
“It would be great to make them happy.”
Will United sign a left back next month?
Few would have asked that question before Sir Alex gave an interview to a hack from Pravda in which he happened to mention that United lacked cover at left back.
Now the blogosphere is busy cranking out the names of the Premiership’s most eligible leftback-chelors, each of them with a shot at joining the Old Trafford payroll during the winter transfer window.
First up is Reading’s Nicky Shorey. The player is running down his contract in Berkshire and was on the radar of West Ham at the beginning of the season. He’s a decent enough player but is he United class? More to the point, is he better than Leighton Baines who United didn’t sign in the summer or worth £5 million?
Such questions are trivial when there is a circulation to boost. A Times hack ran back from the pub to publish this tale and in between hiccups, tipped the new England recruit for a glamour move.
