Nani: Thanks For The Chance Fergie

Sky: Nani has revealed he never expected to be in the Manchester United side so early into his Premier League adventure.

The Portuguese winger was brought in by The Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon last summer and was tipped as a player to watch for the future.

Nani, who opened the scoring in United’s 4-1 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday with a stunning strike, never thought he would have made such an impact so early in his Old Trafford career.

The 20-year-old is thrilled to be part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s first-team, but is keeping his feet on the ground and does not expect to be an automatic selection.

“I must confess, I was never expecting to be in the first-team so soon,” conceded Nani.

“I was well aware of the quality of my team-mates and I knew I would have to work very hard to break into the first XI.

“But things have happened very quickly for me and I was lucky enough to get a chance to show the manager what I can do.

“I would not say I am an automatic selection. The only thing I can say is that it is important to do my best every time I play.

“I have had to adapt to a very different lifestyle in Manchester but I am gradually getting used to it.”
