Peace In Our Time between Fergie And Heinze? Fat Chance!

So much for Sir Alex’s claim that peace is possible with Gabriel Heinze if the defender is denied a move to Liverpool.

The manager said the Argentine defender would not be treated as an outcast if a Premier League panel decides on 20 August that the player must remain at old Trafford.

“Gabriel Heinze has not become an alien within the squad at all. He is a very popular player within the club,” Ferguson said. “The meeting on August 20 will settle it one way or another. Once it is settled, it is out of the way. If he is still a Manchester United player, he will be treated accordingly. He is a warrior and a fighter. He won’t let us down.”

Heinze however, does not see peace in our time and wants the official decision advanced so that he can join the Anfield Rafa-lution.

“I want a quick solution. The club had guaranteed my transfer if a good offer came in and nobody specified anything about the club whether it be a foreign team or Liverpool,” he told the People newspaper.

“My lawyers have told me a meeting with the Premier League is possible to advance the matter next week. I am a total professional and I have always behaved as such. Now I just ask that they respect me and accept what I was promised.”

“It is incomprehensible and, that aside, they are affecting me as a professional not being able to go to another club.”

If United successfully defend their position, they will be left with a player increasingly at odds with both club and manager, no matter what he might say about his feelings for United’s fans.

As mentioned elsewhere in these pages, the Argentine defender is finished at United. For Heinze, read last year’s nonsense with John Obi Mikel.

So call off the Premier League meeting Fergie and let the player have his way.
