Tour:Guangzhou FC 0-3 Man Utd

GOALS: Rooney; Nani; Martin

Sun:NANI delivered another mouthwatering example of what Manchester United fans can feast on this season.

The Red Devils menu was appetising enough before with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs tearing teams to pieces.

But now their new Portuguese star is ready to join the sizzling choice of entertainers as United look to retain their Premier League title in style.

Nani, 20, was on target yesterday for the second consecutive game with an exquisite goal that had United stamped all over it.

Rooney stormed forward, avoiding all challenges, before laying the ball off to Michael Carrick.

The England midfielder spotted Nani overlapping but when he received the ball there looked little chance of a goal from an acute angle outside the box.

So the £17.3million midfielder from Sporting Lisbon decided to use the far post to help his cause.

Nani chipped a delightful shot over the keeper and sent the ball in with the aid of the upright.

This time there would be no back-flip celebration like he produced when scoring on his debut against Shenzhen FC.

The player — and boss Alex Ferguson — winced when he landed on his previously-injured ankle.

After that Fergie told him to keep scoring the goals but forget the celebration.

Yesterday Nani simply raised his arms as the cheers rained down from a crowd who had clearly seen nothing like it.

Ferguson said: “What we are trying to do with him is give him football and put him on a training programme that gets him to our level. He is not there yet.

“There are already some good signs from his speed and skill. He has been impressive, scoring two goals in two games, which is a good start. But two weeks from now you’ll see a different player.”

It was another impressive display from United as they rounded off their Asian tour.

Fergie’s lads scored 15 goals in four games and conceded two, both in their drawn opener against Urawa Red Diamonds in Tokyo.

Last night United got the ball rolling on 19 minutes when Carrick won a penalty, which Rooney despatched emphatically. Nani delivered his inspired moment two minutes before half-time.

And No 3 was thumped home on 52 minutes when Lee Martin blasted a 30-yard shot into the top corner.

While there was plenty of attacking play to enjoy once more, the case for the defence was strong again with a third consecutive clean sheet.

United defended the rare attacks from the opposition as if their lives depended on it. Rio Ferdinand, 28, and Nemanja Vidic, 25, look as good a central partnership as Old Trafford has ever had.

Fergie added: “Not since Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce have we had such a pair.

“And they are at the right age to grow together as a partnership.”

Ronaldo came on as a late sub having stubbed his toe in training but once again, he was the fans’ favourite.
