One Striker In, One Striker Out …
To no real surprise, United may be ready to sell Giuseppe Rossi.
Parma’s president Tommaso Ghirardi wants the striker and made an offer for the 20-year-old striker last week, receiving word that the player is for sale.
“Two days ago we spoke to the Manchester United directors and they told us that Rossi was for sale,” Ghiradi revealed. “We made an offer and we’re waiting for a reply. Signing Rossi would be an excellent move that would be perfectly in keeping with the ethos of the club.”
Last season Rossi returned on loan to the Italian club where he began his career and scored nine goals in 19 games to help stave off relegation.
Rossi’s has made five appearances for United in three years. He is keen to return to United but his already slim first team chances would recede still further if as expected, United complete the signing of Carlos Tevez.
The player is not without talent but as reported elsewhere in these pages, Rossi may well be remembered as the wrong striker at the wrong time.
