Smith: Six Million Reasons To Go?
Are face to face talks between Alan Smith and Sir Alex all that stand between the player and a £6 million transfer out of Old Trafford?
Press reports claim Middlesbrough are ready to pay the sum to United and reunite Smith with old Leeds sparring partner Jonathan Woodgate.
“It is unlikely that any deal will be concluded quickly as the 26-year-old wants to have face-to-face talks with Sir Alex Ferguson,” the Independent reports.
With other clubs also rumoured to be interested in the combative forward, United may hold out for a higher fee.
If United do give the greenlight to Smith’s sale, it would indicate that a big name striker is on his way to Old Trafford.
