Sun: ALEX FERGUSON says Roy Keane can expect a huge reception when he returns to Old Trafford for the first time as a manager.
Manchester United legend Keano will take newly-promoted Sunderland to the Theatre of Dreams on September 1.
The Irishman will be one of three ex-United players pitting their wits against their old boss along with Steve Bruce at Birmingham and Mark Hughes at Blackburn.
Ferguson said: “My old players are queuing to gang up against me these days. Over the years, we have had them walk back out at Old Trafford and retain a great rapport with the fans. Roy will get a terrific reception, he deserves it.”
Fergie will host another United old boy on the opening day — Reading’s Steve Coppell. Meanwhile, Keane’s Black Cats entertain Spurs in their first game back in the Premiership.
Keane said: “It will hopefully be a good start. With Liverpool at home and United away in the first five games, we’ll see how difficult it’s going to be.”
