Carrick: We’re Devastated …
Sky: Michael Carrick has admitted Manchester United were left devastated by their FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea, but believes they can reflect on a positive season.
The Red Devils tasted defeat in the first FA Cup final at the new Wembley thanks to Didier Drogba’s extra-time strike.
The defeat ended United’s dreams of securing the Double and Carrick has admitted their dressing room was a sombre place.
“It is devastating,” Carrick told Sky Sports News. “To lose a final anyway is bad, but to lose it like we did after having a chance to win, it is not a happy place.”
United pipped Chelsea to the Premiership title and England midfielder Carrick feels The Red Devils can class their season as being positive.
“We are disappointed now, but when we go away and look at the season we can be very happy with the way we have played and what we have achieved,” he added.
“It has been an amazing season and being champions was what we wanted to do. We have managed to do that; we obviously wanted to win the cup.
“It is not a good place to be, but we will bounce back.”
