Foster: This Season’s A Write-Off
Sun: BEN FOSTER admits he has no chance of breaking into Manchester United’s first team this season.
Foster, 24, had high hopes for the campaign after returning to Old Trafford from a two-year loan spell with Watford.
But the keeper’s world came crashing down around him in May when he ruptured his cruciate knee ligament.
The injury condemned him to rehabilitation sessions and Foster fears a planned return to action in March will leave him short of time to press a claim for United’s No1 shirt.
Foster said: “It is going to be early February before I can start training with the rest of the squad again and March before I can play.
“At this moment in time I would take anything — the reserves or a short loan spell somewhere — that would allow me to kick on next season.
“I am an awful watcher and this whole experience has been massively frustrating for me.
“I had a lot of expectation for what this season was going to hold for me.
“It is so disappointing when you are told you are going to be out for eight months.
“All you can do is let it seep into your head, then knuckle down to some hard work.”
